Fashion + Art = Marchesa

Fashion + Art = Marchesa

This past month many amazing designers’ creations and lines have been showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week held in New York in September. I have been keeping up with nearly every show which has allowed me to see great new pieces with added textures, lace, and a lot of bold and bright colors. I must say though that Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman, lead designers for Marchesa, have really set the standard high for youthful luxury brands this Spring. Their Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear line is full of pieces with dramatic draping, ruffles, layers of different fabrics, and added beading. Craig and Chapman also added tons of sculptural elements into this amazing line. I can’t imagine seeing these dresses in person because of the uniqueness of the pieces. The audience’s faces during the show must have been in awe because of the artistic pieces being shown on the runway. I only hope to see most or all of the pieces in this line gracing red carpets everywhere, featured in every fashion magazine, or maybe even on display at The Costume Institute at The Met. Not only were there dresses in this line, but also jumpsuits that were just as unique as the sculptural dresses. They also used the bejeweled and draping techniques which created a wonderful flow throughout the show. The Fashion World today is always looking for the latest and greatest designs which I believe Marchesa has created. Please take time to look at the wonderful Spring 2011 RTW line here. You won’t regret it, I promise!

Please let us know what you think about this line! We would love to hear your opinions.

Meet Tonaya Wright!! New Writer for SMD :-)

Hey SMD !

I’m a new edition to Style Me Daily and I’m oober excited! I had the pleasure of wardrobing alongside Edie (under RunwayReady ) on the set of Blissful Lies and long story short she allured me & other assistants into joining her team!
I’m Tonaya =.) (←-- and that smiley there is my smiley trademark ) . Publicly I like to go by TonayaNoel ,a name I’ve always been interested in with naming my own business or line someday . But respectively I introduce myself as Tonaya and from there, friends dub me multiple nicknames , often being referred to as Tiny because I’m 4’11 =.)

Anyways , I’m an 18 year old freshman at UNT majoring in Fashion Merchandising .A Business minor would be the logical route but my interest in the industry is very broad , so I’m considering Marketing , Journalism , RTF as either a double major or minor as well . My dream job is becoming a stylist and because I’m as business orientated as I am fashion oriented , I’d love to go freelance, own a firm , boutique and dabble my hand into Editing ,broadcasting , production , advertising , photography & investing into stocks. But as long as I’m getting paid doing what I enjoy, I’m not too picky.

I’m a military child so I’ve never lived at a location longer than 6 years . Born in North Carolina , brought up in Kentucky/Tennessee (6 yrs ) , raised in Okinawa, Japan ( 6 years ), then I graduated & entered college here in Texas ( 2.5 yrs ), actually since I was a sophomore , living in Japan I knew UNT was where I wanted to be and well though I looked into other schools for my major , UNT was the only school I put effort in applying to and BADABOOM I GOT IN & NOW IM HERE =.D . So ,now that I’m in Denton/DFW area , I plan on conquering several opportunities and I won’t sleep until I make it ;)

Interestingly enough , because I have a keen interest in business and money , I’m one of the most frugal girls you’ll probably ever meet . I’m constantly chasing down deals , steals , coupons and promo codes and consider me dead if I don’t have one of those . So it may be of no surprise that I’m into fast fashion but don’t let that fool you as me being cheap .Quality is as important as money so, I won’t just blog about great deals , I’ll blog about necessary investments. Toodles and Love ♥

Stay ADDICTED,

-Tonaya

Meet Megan Holland!! New Writer for SMD :-)

Hey SMD! I think it would be a good idea for you guys to get to know me a little before I begin writing. My name is Megan Holland. Edie and I met on the set of ‘Blissful Lies’, which was such an amazing experience for all of us girls. We learned that while things may get frustrating there is always a solution for each problem when it comes to styling. Edie mentioned this blog and we were all so eager to start writing! We came up with some awesome new ideas for the blog, details coming soon! My posts will consist of a lot of brand coverage. I love watching Fashion events and shows online, I tend to forget about everything I should be doing and spend hours watching a designer’s new line walk the runway. I will be covering every designer from Alberta Ferretti to Versace and every designer in between.

As for my life, I am a junior at University of North Texas in Denton working towards my Fashion Merchandising degree and a minor in Business. I am involved with Merchandising Inc, which is an organization for merchandising students, and plan to run for a leadership position as of next year. This organization has taught me and many other girls the importance of networking in this industry and has also taught us a lot about pulling off some awesome fashion shows. Majoring in Fashion Merchandising has introduced me to so much Fashion knowledge which I plan on sharing with you awesome readers. I have also met some awesome people through this program. If you are interested in something, get involved! You will meet awesome, like minded people who will inspire you and your interests. I am originally from Arlington, Texas raised by what I am pretty sure are the best parents ever! I am also a twin, my sister and I are so alike but so different at the same time. Growing up, we both tried to be unique but never pulled away from our similar attributes. I am also a simple girl who enjoys watching movies, going to concerts, or simply just hanging out and talking at Starbucks.

I am super stoked to start sharing with you guys on everything Fashion. I hope you guys enjoy the many posts that come in the future from us girls.

Stay Addicted!

Valou Rings: Do You Have Yours Yet?!

SMD!

This summer I bought one of the most unique rings I've ever seen. A Valou Ring! If you haven't heard or seen the Valou collection, you should. About a year ago, I noticed the ring on Disney teen singer Demi Lovato. I immediately had to hunt down and find where to buy this amazing ring. After much research, I finally found the Valou website. The jewelry collection was created by the LA based designer by the same name, Valou. With a separate site solely devoted to her now famous (and patent) 3-Cap rings, Valou is making a quite name for herself.

Although the simplest 3-cap will cost you a hefty $125, the wear, enjoyment, and endless compliments you will get with this ring make the price completely worth it. The rings go with every outfit, casual or dressy. Gaudy, two finger rings are a huge trend right now, but the Valou rings bring something new to the table. The simplicity of Valou's 3cap rings makes them easy to wear 24/7, but the unique style of the rings never gets old. In both men's and women's styles, the 3cap rings truly show their versatility. What's even cooler is that you can't purchase this hand crafted ring just anywhere; they're only for sale online and certain small boutiques in LA and New Jersey. So, since its still a smaller company, you're sure to have a fashion forward conversation piece...on your finger! Prior to my purchase I had some questions, and I was able to communicate directly with Valou via email. I received WONDERFUL customer service. I got a kind email back within the first day, they even sent me extra business cards when I asked for some more because I was running out so quickly with interested friends & strangers alike! After my experience with Valou, I've fallen in love with my ring and the company itself. Any designer with such dedication and creativity deserves support and media coverage. Let's help this brilliant and hard working designer get major exposure!

To order this killer ring or just to check the original women's 3cap & other styles go to www.Valou3cap.com Sizes are by your ring finger size & somehow it fits perfectly on both fingers when you receive it! Pay with a card or through pay pal and you'll get it in the mail promptly in a week. Because I love these rings so much I've been in contact with Valou for a while and have worked out a deal for promoting their rings, so if you style-a-holics DO purchase a ring, mention me (Tristan Lazor) in the "recommended by" section!

lovelovelove,
Tris

Meet Tristan Lazor!! New Writer for SMD :-)

Hello SMD!

I'll start off by introducing myself! My name is Tristan and I am a friend of Edie's! We met on the set of Blissful Lies and worked wardrobe together most of the days I was there! Like Edie, I've realized how such an opportunity Blissful Lies was. Although we worked & used numerous tanks of gas for no pay, we learned a lot along the way... And met some wonderful people.

Edie told me about her Style Me Daily blog & I was eager to participate! My contributions to this awesome blog will include some editorials on new trendy things- pieces, places and people! I'm also hoping to create some videos with the other girls, and include some of my personal photography & inspiration shots!

I hope to help with the Style Profiles section, because I'm a pop culture
enthusiast! I frequent E! News and Perez Hilton daily, so I'm up to date with the fashion forward celebs. :P

As for myself, I am a sophomore at UNT working on a major in Fashion Merchandising and a minor in Business. I currently reside in Denton, Texas near campus with three of my closest girlfriends. I grew up in Carrollton, Texas raised by my loving and amazing parents...and with two stinky, but wonderful younger brothers who surprisingly influenced my fashions in one way or another my whole life. They are definitely my harshest critics! I'm strongly influenced-fashion wise- by music and art. I work at a swim suit shop called Everything But Water when I'm not in school. And when I'm not at school or work, I'm hanging out with my friends, traveling, eating delicious foods or attending one of the many concerts I end up spending all my money to get tickets for. I love hosting! Whether its cooking for three friends or putting together a low key, but hilarious & goofily themed party at our apartment! :)

I'm so eager to start writing for SMD and telling you guys what I think about certain things related to fashion! I can't wait to see what's ahead on this crazy road!

That's all for now! Stay addicted! (that's what we say, right? hehe)

lovelovelove,
Tristan

"Blissful Lies"-It's a Wrap!

Hey There SMD!,

Ok, so last Friday was the last day of shooting for the independent film "Blissful Lies" starring Leann Hunley from Days of Our Lives. The experience for me was great. I've had time to sit and reflect over everything and I'm so grateful I was given the opportunity to assist with the project. I've met SO many wonderful people, young people, positive people, doing something positive with their lives. It might sound weird for me to say that, but I was brought up in a neighborhood where it's typical for there not to be very many positive role models around.

For me, I was blessed with a great foundation within my parents. Both are college graduates and have pretty successful careers. They've also been married for almost 25 years (next Tues...which is also my BDAY! :-) But, this dynamic, where I'm from, isn't very common; it's also great to be inspired and see that with hard work and determination I really can become whatever I want in this life. And, along with my success I can provide opportunities for those who have no hope and those who need that confidence to know that they too can succeed despite their background.

So, let's just say I've been inspired, to say the least, from this whole experience! I've always been a pretty motivated person, but now I can see clearly God's purpose for my life. I have direction, and goals, and if you've ever been lost or questioned your purpose in this world, you know that feeling is priceless! I'm so excited to keep volunteering on projects and build myself up as a stylist. I have so many plans and dreams, and hopefully 5 or 10 years from now they will be fully realized...how exciting to think about!

We have alot of good things in the works for SMD! I have some creative new writers coming on board to share their fashionable expertise with SMD, which is exciting! As well as some new projects that we plan to bring to the blog, we might even start creating some fashion segments on youtube, so just continue to support our movement and as I always say STAY TUNED! :-D

Also, thank you again so much to all my readers. You could be reading anyone else's blog but you chose to stop here and read ours! So THANK YOU and THANK YOU for all your SUPPORT!

If you ever have any fashion-related questions, have any ideas for stories, or even wanna be a contributor to the blog email me at edie_middleton@yahoo.com.

16 Hour Days!-"The Life of a Fashion Stylist"

WHEW!

SMD!...I have so much to say...but this has been a 16 hour day on set and I'm beyond tired so im gonna just give you all a spoonful instead of the scoop tonight! LOL (you like how I did that...funny huh?!...ok well maybe not but give me a break I'm running off of fumes at this point!)

Ok....so as you all know I've been a styling assistant with Runway Ready for an independent film called, "Blissful Lies". The movie stars Emmy Award winning actress, Leann Hunley (Days of Our Lives). And, in the past two weeks I have learned and grown so much!

I came into this opportunity with not a lot of experience, especially of this magnitude. I mean, I've done fashion shows but I've never had to style for a movie so this has been a great learning experience for me! It hasn't always been easy and I definitely haven't always done everything right, but you have to start at the bottom and make those mistakes in order to reach success in the long run! But, man! What a ride it has been so far!

Because of my open schedule (I'm only taking 9 hrs this semester in school) I have been able to devote a lot of time in helping Fanitsa (owner of Runway Ready) which has been great for me because I've been able to really be hands-on and see what its like to be a professional stylist in the industry.

Oh! and they even asked me to be an extra in the movie (ugh...it was last minute because they needed some extra bodies but honestly I really wasn't emotionally ready for the task...my hair and outfit was NOT how I wanted it!) LOL...that's just the vain side of me talking. I actually had a REALLY good time doing it. It's so hard not to look into the camera tho, I mean it's like seeing bad a wreck; you know you shouldn't stare, but you just can help it! But it was a good time and I'm excited to see how it all get's edited!

I'v been having a great time getting to know the cast and crew and conversing with an Emmy Award winner is pretty cool all in of itself! I had an epiphany tonight, riding in the car on the way home, I just can't believe that this is the life I'm living right now! God has really blessed me with some great opportunities and great fashion mentors, like Fanitsa, to look up too and I couldn't be more grateful! It's so A-mazing!

But anyway SMD, it is now 3:50am so I'm going to go ahead and wrap up this post. (Have I been babbling?...I'm so tired I'm not even sure as this point). I will try to keep posting updates and pictures to my twitter account and keep you guys updated here. When the movie is done shooting I'm going to give my SMD's a better overview of my experience (in Detail!) and address things that I've learned that maybe could help future stylists and fashionista's out there! So, as I say after each of my posts...Stay tuned!

GOOD NIGHT! xoxoxo
